First of all it has been almost a year since i shot this session y’all!  I am not sure how this one slipped through the crack on me because the concept has been in my dream journal for over 3 years and it might have been my all time favorite all about me session!

WHY AN ALL ABOUT ME SESSION?

so after two years of hinting to it in 2011 i finally “officially” launched the idea of the all about me session with the VERY FIRST ONE…The idea of creating a session just for one child at that moment in their life filled with their dreams and imagination was MY DREAM!  i wanted to enter their world of cotton candy clouds and backyard battlegrounds…i wanted to giggle and laugh and fall down doing cartwheels or go on a dragon hunt in their own backyards….thats is how it started!  but since then it has become so much more!  Clearly the idea has evolved and grown and the concepts have been small setups and large productions …i have gotten to watch children grow and their imaginations grow with them.  there have been all about me sessions for boys and of course ones for girls.

BUt it was also about remembering…the way we giggle when we think about how cheeks #1 was the girlies girly princess but she was infatuated with thomas the train so much so that he made an appearance in her 3 yr old preschool pics (yes individual pic AND class pic ha).  The O-B-SESSION with disney princess dresses in this house for years and years.  The book we read every single night for 3 months straight bc it was cheeks #2 favorite.  I WANTED TO REMEMBER THOSE MOMENTS, i wanted to freeze the memories of that time.  of WHO THEY EACH WERE at that time…

THE DREAMY CONCEPT?

Let me tell how this concept came about…So i had the idea of a “blooming artist” in my dream journal for several years but it was waiting for the right little girl to come along.  Miss M’s moms said that Miss M loved to pain more than anything but also loved girly girl stuff.  OH and her grandmother has recently passed away and she was very connected in the floral community so much so that she had a rose named after her here in Houston upon her passing.  YALL!  i instantly knew she.was.the.one!

Honestly each child is unique and something makes them sparkle (even boys) and we just need to find it!  Don’t worry we WILL!

THEIR IMAGINATION MATTERS NOW?

SO i usually say there are two parts to deciding if your child is the right age for an all about me session, 1.  are they in the imagination age range 4-8?  2.  Are they about to start kindergarten?  because if the answer is yes to either of those questions then NOW IS THE TIME TO celebrate their imagination!

let me tell you the set was designed by me in a chicken scratch drawing in my notebook, miss M’s mom found PAPERIE BY JULES and by simply speaking over the phone and working on this giant project from separate sides of houston we magically showed up with the most perfectly matching canvas painting and paper flowers!!!!!!!  can you say “meant to be”
