Pastels Are Life
If you have looked at this blog for mmmm, I don’t know, one to two posts hahah then you would know that I adore pastels! My entire house is light and airy, my walls are grey and almost every room in my house some shade of light turquoise or blue! So clearly when I styled this family I styled them as I would style my own family, I mean they even have two girls! But imagine my excitement when Galveston decided to give us the most gorgeous cotton candy sky that happened to be my favorites colors!
Real life Family Photoshoots: The Lifestyle Approach to Beach sessions
Beach Sessions are my happy place! I shoot family mini sessions in Galveston at least three times a year and then add in some travel sessions to bucket list beach locations like Amelia Island, Watercolor Florida, pretty much any 30A Beach and of course Tahoe! Here is the thing, the ocean breeze can make any hot Texas day better, not to mention any sessions that doesn’t require you to have to pick out shoes for everyone in your family is a win-win! The beach is a new adventure for everyone from toddlers to big kids and even mom and dad and of course who doesn’t love splashing in the water and collections seashells along the shoreline!? Being on the beach for your session takes away the pressures of everyday life because I think every single person smells that salty ocean air and instantly feels like they are on a mini vacation. For kids the beach equals F-U-N, period! I truly believe family beach sessions are the easiest to shoot and the easiest to be a part of because you can’t help but focus on the fun and excitement of the ocean, rather than focusing on my camera. The Mom Leads the Pack
The biggest suggestion i have for any type of session is to remember that as the mom you not only book the sessions but you lead the flow of how it all goes! I work closely with every single mom or dad to ensure that we check all of the boxes well in advance and are prepared for the session a week before our date so that there is no stressing the day of the shoot! The more fun, excited and comparable you are the more the rest of the family can relax.
