It All Started with A Dream

When I created the concept of the all about me sessions almost 11 years ago it was nothing more than a dream, one I was afraid to chase.  I was terrified no one would understand the need to create a styled shoot around a child, I was afraid no client would want to book one and scared I would “run out of ideas”.  Remember this was all before Pinterest and social media came along!  You can read about these sessions in THIS POST HERE and see my WHY behind these sessions. But I was scared and it took me 4 years to stop being scared and JUST FREAKIN DO…once I did the rest is history.  Y’all so much has changed since then.  I have written numerous online classes all about styled shoots and the magic of childhood, I have spoken all over the country and taught hundreds of photographers how to incorporate styled session into their businesses…but things change.

Or maybe some things stay the same…

But here is the thing, the magic of childhood, the imagination age and the adventures of childhood, it’s all still here, it’s NOT going anywhere and capturing it is still just as important as ever.  But as you can see from THIS POST my own girls are growing up, we are moving into a new stage of life.  I am moving into a new stage of motherhood.  Yes my business is transitioning and yes, 90% of my sessions are still family sessions…BUT… I still want you to have these moments as a mother, I still believe in magic and I am still mesmerized by bubbles and glitter. You see, kids see the world in the most magical unfiltered way and we are the keepers of that, we are the storytellers of that magic and we are the ones who look into their eyes as they pretend to be princesses or butterflies or dragon slayers, or rocket scientists.  we are their mothers!  I want to bring those dreams to life with you so that you always remember these moments of a fleeting childhood that seems to disappear in the blink of an eye…THE MAGIC OF CHILDHOOD MATTERS in this world we live in today and as adults we need it more than ever!

The Most Epic Tea Party

This had to be one of the most epic sessions I have ever created!  We planned it for a year!  These ladies have the most amazing mom and she and I have been photography friends for years so when she asked me to create a styled sister shoot for her girls I was beyond nervous!  She asked for the most simple theme and one that I get asked for often, a tea party…but its one that has been done 1 million and one times and y’all i don’t like to do things that have been done once much less one million and one hahahaha… Since they would be traveling in from Dallas for this photoshoot I knew the perfect location and prayed for availability ha.  As I started brainstorming I knew I wanted this simple tea party to take a not to simple turn so I had to call in reinforcements and i called my amazing friend WHO STYLES WEDDINGS and happens to run the most delicious restaurant Melissa with the Bake shoppe and cafe  If you have followed any of our personal birthday parties then you would know that we have gotten every single birthday cake for like ever from Melissa because well she understands my love for amazing cake and desserts ha.  We walked through melissa’s insane storage units and picked chairs, cake stands pillow, garlands, and the most amazing gold butterfly chandelier.  I am pretty sure the day of the shoot was the hottest day in all of Texas history ever and Melissa and I might have both had mini heat strokes setting up but y’all every single minute of that was worth it to see these sisters enjoy the most epic and magical tea party of all time….
