When it doesn’t rain in Houston
I always say Houston has two season rainy and neon green or hot and mosquito central, because over the last 14 years that i have lived here it’s been one of those two things, period. As a photographer you would think I would be grateful we don’t live in a place where it snows in april and don’t get me wrong I certainly am but neon green is wretched for a camera and rain equals green! But there is this small little moment every winter, this little window of luck where it’s not raining, it hasn’t rained and wham we get some not so green grass! that little moment if my favorite time of the year!
Houston Weather
Well you see this session indeed got rained out at first and was supposed to be my first session of the fall family photographer session rush…we showed up to the location with a 10% chance of rain (which is pretty much every second in The Woodlands) and within 5 minutes of us stepping out of the car thunder….and pouring down rain! Assuming it was a pop up shower based on radar we thought we would give it a minute to finish up…a minute turned into 35! Thirty five whole minutes of pouring down crazy rain! No way were we stepping foot in that tall grass now….
Here Comes the Sun
So we decided to give mother nature her victory and go home. With a jam packed fall and a few more attempts at rescheduling we finally pushed the session to the final day of my fall shooting schedule. And if you remember this family I have mentioned before that sunshine follows them….they have been coming to me for years and years and years and we always manage to land on the day that has the most epic sunset or sunrise. They are such a beautiful family and their light shines bright so I swear the sun just follows them around and give us the most beautiful golden light on the most perfect day….even if it was the final day of me shooting and they had to wait several months for this epic sunset.
