Timing is Everything
We all know months like January or April seem to go on forever in slow motion, but then, months like September come barreling in. September and October tend to stun us, so months like November can bulldoze us over! SO why wait to book your family pictures until the chaos hits?! The fall is crazy busy for all of us but especially for moms. We are in charge of class parties, teacher gifts galore, end of semester test, pop quizzes and projects. Plus, there is this little ol tree that sits in the corner, that you have to to decorate and that bird that everybody wants you to cook! With the intensity of fall schedules, I prefer to have my own family photographed during the spring and summer months. Life is just a little bit slower. Plus we have less commitments and a little more space on the calendar.
This also provides a good change in Texas scenery from previous years! The same exact spot in the woodlands Texas can be lush green in March and wispy gold in October. I would encourage you to think about when you shot your family session last year. Consider switching it up and doing a completely different season this year! I promise you, the fall season is filled to the brim with family mini sessions every weekend and overworked/overtired photographers…”summer” photographers are much more laid back and relaxed from spending so much time at the beach ha! just me?!
Bring the Fun
Or find a photographer that does! Every family session I am a part of is filled from start to finish with games and prompts! What does this mean? it means you don’t need to be nervous because I tell you where to look, when to do it and what to do with your hands (no Ricky Bobby hands in front of my camera ha). After 13 years of photographing Houston families I have developed a system of games that seamlessly lead you from one snuggle to the next without asking anyone to say “cheese”. I have even flown all across the country this year to teach other photographers how to incorporate this level of fun into their own sessions!
Lock down a location
We don’t really need much, just a grassy field and your belly laughs, finding a location that doesn’t have an audience is sometimes the key to ensuring everyone is comfortable in front of the camera. Maybe, you want to escape from the Texas heat but don’t know where to go…well, finding a photographer that has a variety of locations from Corpus Christi to College Station is definitely going to ease your mind!l!
So if you are looking for a family photographer who knows the best spots in Dallas, Austin, Houston and everywhere in between, you found her! If you want one that brings F-U-N, then shoot me a message. Let’s have a quick chat to see if we are a fabulous fit! Chubby Cheek Photography not only serves families here in Houston but also Austin, Hutto, Prosper and even Fort Worth, Texas!
Hi there,
Looking for a quote for a family sesh.
I have a 1 year old and a 3 year old. Possibly even would like my parents involved depending on pricing. We love midtown, natural/city screener year; or the complete opposite of a white backdrop.
Hello,
My daughter turns 1 this month and we were interested in family portraits (for the 4 of us). Can you please share any package details? I also have a son who is 3.5 years old. Given the heat, do you recommend we push the session to September end?
