Well hey friends it’s been a minute since I’ve been around here, so HOWDY! As you can see some changes have been underway in this little space! Rather than go on about all of the behind the scenes work, I am going to take a beach break! Let’s enjoy some family beach fun. I have been driving back and forth from Houston to Galveston every week for family sessions for almost two months! Yall, my family and I secretly love it because they get to tag along and breath in that ocean air.
Beat the Texas Heat
With everything going on right now, I have seen an influx of out of towner’s enjoying time at our Texas beaches. But, I have to say Galveston is definitely showing off for them with good ol Texas skies and beautiful clear water! I have captured wave splashing with families from Oklahoma to Lubbock and Dallas to Austin! During the Texas summer the beach is our family’s happy place, so I can’t think of a better way to beat these triple digit numbers, than to have my toes in the sand!
Top Three Tips from a Beach Photographer
If your family is thinking of making their way to the Texas Coastline my top three tips for your photo session are…
1. Pick your Time wisely
To sleep in or not to sleep in that is the question! Do you have young kids? If so an early morning sunrise session might be the best option for your family. Remember the sun sets later during the summer months, so a sunset session could be as late at 8:30 in some parts of the US, so make sure your babies will be able to stay up to session time without getting grumpy.
2. The Vacation Time out
Consider how much time you want to take out of your vacation schedule for the session. Would your family prefer a quick and easy mini session or a fun and full regular photoshoot? I offer saltwater minis multiple times during peak beach season so your family is able to have the vacation break they want.
3. Don’t pick a bookend day
What I mean is, don’t schedule your photoshoot on the day you arrive or the last day you are at the beach. The day you arrive to a family beach vacation is always stressful, with getting everyone there to the actual beach town house and then unpacking it all. The last thing you will want to do is take showers and get ready for a family photoshoot. I also don’t suggest you shoot the last day of your vacation for two reasons. The first being weather mishaps! If you have a session scheduled for early in your vacation you have given yourself some wiggle room for potential rainouts and rescheduling.
The second reason, is…well have you every heard of the sunburn that lasts forever? It’s the swimsuit, sunburn lines and tomato face smile that you are sporting during your session after a few too many hours in the sun. Those moments and that pink hue are captured in your album forever!
