Start your day with the locals. 

For the Coffee lover, the BEST COFFEE? Yes, there are a few traditional coffee shops around town but the locals have a few secret spots that will blow your mind. When you are on a family vacation in a Galveston it is a great time to try places you don’t have at home. For example, MOD coffee is the perfect quaint little slice of yummm to start your day! Mod Coffee is located in the uber, swanky historic post office district.  I would suggest a hot chocolate with added butter pecan for your kiddos and for the coffee lovers, the Gonzo Latte….Trust me.

Get ready to Eat the BEST BURGER. Looking for a Burger with a view?  Well, The Spot has got your covered plus some.  This clubhouse space across from the beach has five venues in one spot.  Choose from 29 craft beer choices at Tiki Bar to over 50 specialty Margaritas at Squeeze or play some corn hole and munch on shrimp kisses at Sideyard.

Be Adventurous and have some Big Kid Fun.

Pleasure Pier is definitely fun for all ages when spending your vacation in Galveston.  However, did you know there is also a small version of Schlitterbahn on the island?  If you live in Texas you have no doubt been to the massive version in New Braunfels. That waterpark get’s bigger and bigger by the year and can feel overwhelming for parents with young kids. Schlitterbahn Galveston is the perfect option for family’s with young kids or big kids because it is’t too large but has plenty of thrilling water rides.

Pro Tip: Pay the extra money and rent a cabana!  Having a set space to meet, hide from the Texas summer sun and sit down to eat is worth it.

For this of you with teens or history buffs, you might want to book a Ghost Tour to see Galveston after the sun goes down. Galveston Island is rich in history and the old buildings have stories to tell. These walking tours not only give you a glimpse terrifying tales of events that have shaped the city.  Plus, they have options for all ages that are less than $30 per person.

Go West for the best Galveston Vacation beaches!
