As a Houston Senior Photographer, and a mom of two girls, I love the opportunity to capture high school senior guys! Most moms looking for senior photos for boys want to stay in the Houston area. Downtown Tomball provides such a diverse backdrop of textures and swag, so it’s always perfect choice!
But my number one asked questions from senior boy moms is “what does he wear?” Check out my favorite d0’s or don’ts for what to wear for senior guy photos.
Fashion Do’s and Don’ts for Senior Boy Portraits
-
Do Dress it up.
A navy suit unbuttoned without a tie brings a level of swag but isn’t too formal. Make sure you pay attention to your sock choice because if you sit they will show. If you aren’t really a fan of suits or don’t own one, you can always pair dark jeans with a pressed button up and leather loafers. A nice pair of slacks and iron’ed button up shirt is another great option for a dressy senior look. And finally dark denim jeans and a v-neck t shirt with a blazer, give’s the same vibe.

Do bring a variety of denim.
Denim in different colors is a must to add variety to your session! Grey denim and black are most likely staple clothing peices in your closet already, so bring them. Grey and black denim work so well in more urban settings like big city or small town streets. It’s perfect to pair them with casual tennis shoes like Van’s or Nike’s. Colored denim has been super popular in stores lately and can add an unexpected pop of color while showing off your fun personality

Don’t forget to show off your skills.
A sports outfit like a basketball or football uniform, complete with a ball and athletic shoes shows off your love for sports. Add to your sports outfit and wear a jersey with jeans. or bust out your letterman jacket with a white tee and washed-out jeans for a less obvious twist. As a Texas boy you are most likely a fan of hunting or fishing, show that! Camo and a backwards hat are the perfect addition to that rod and reel. If you are in the band, don’t hesitate to bring your instrument.

Don’t wear anything overly branded.
Steer clear or large logos or busy patterns because they are distracting. Speaking of distracting, make sure you are comfortable in everything you bring to wear. There is nothing worse that a pair of too tight jeans or a shirt that is outside of your comfort zone.
