The best part of being able to capture your senior photos in downtown Houston is the variety that the 6th largest city in the nation has to offer. First we have a phone consultation and discuss the vibe of your session. Then you get my location guide cliff notes so you can start to envision all of the unique spots the Houston Metroplex and surrounding areas have to offer. Let’s be real, we can capture “urban” vibes all the way from Tomball to Downtown H Town! One of my favorite locations that doesn’t have us walking up and down Travis Street in heels is quaint and quiet Uptown Park area. Lets’s talk about a few things I want to make sure each location checks a few important things off of your list before hit the traffic of I 45.
Top Three Most Important things when selecting a Location for Your Senior Photos
Variation in Your Images
Does the Location offer a good variety in backgrounds? Do you want sixty plus images in a green grassy field or do you want a field plus some colored buildings? When we think about Urban style we envision downtown skylines but maybe the dirty downtown streets aren’t your thing so a glass and metal shopping center like this one is a better fit. If your clothing is more muted you might prefer a location with bold colored graffiti walls. You also have to consider variation in your clothing. A glass window’ed shopping center looks completely different with a short silk homecoming dress than it does with jeans and wedges. Therefore if location hopping isn’t on your list of things to do, ensure that you get variety with different clothing styles.
Traffic Times versus weekend Crowds
It’s also important to think about the time you are choosing that location for your Houston Senior Photos. If you choose a quaint shopping center I would avoid chasing a date during a long weekend to avoid crazy shopping crowds. A spring break session on Galveston Island would also be tricky because of the excess beach goers flocking to the Texas coast. When selecting an urban location that will require us to hop around to different parts of the downtown Houston I typically recommend we start the session earlier than normal to account for traffic times from location to location.
