Every family session is a series of games and prompts to bring out your family’s true laughter. These games help me ensure that everyone leaves the family session having had fun! And I mean everyone – from teens to ‘wanna be grumpy’ dads. The secret to everyone having fun is feeling comfortable. After the camera starts snapping things can feel awkward (insert Ricky Bobby gif). That’s why today we are going to talk about a few of our favorite posing that you can use at your next family session.
Posing Tips for families with Toddlers
Simba Pose
An easy pose for mom or dad to try with any age toddler is the Simba pose. This can be done standing or sitting down and is simply the parent holding the child up into the air and then bringing them back down face to face. Bonus Tip: Add a sweet little kiss on the forehead or nose.
A Little Bounce
Movement is the most important part to feeling comfortable during your photoshoot. Plus, let’s be real, toddlers DO NOT SIT STILL, ha! A little bounce pose can be done standing and can be done with multiple toddlers by putting them back to back and snuggling in tight. If you are sitting during your family session bending your knees and giving small babies a little bounce always brings the giggles and gummy grins.
Follow the leader
While this isn’t really a pose, it is such an easy way to ensure that your family session is fun and easy! Let your kids be the leader! You have done the hard work now just sit back and enjoy the Houston landscape through the eyes of your babies.
Sniff and Snuggle
The final pose idea for your next family session with your baby is the easiest one! I call this the sniff and snuggle and its exactly how it sounds. This one means no looking at the camera. Plus doing exactly what you already do with that squishy baby or squirmy toddler.
