Well hey friends it’s been a minute since we have had a Galveston beach session discussion, so lets do it! But first, as you can see some changes have been underway in this little space.  Rather than go on about all of the behind the scenes work, we are just going to take a beach break! Let’s enjoy some family beach fun photos and chat about where you might want to stay if you are visiting Galveston Island.

Pretty soon I will be driving back and forth from Houston to Galveston every week for family sessions as summer is right around the corner but I have spent many vacation nights in Galveston.

Where to Stay for Your Galveston Family Vacation

  1. Hotels and Resorts with Seaside Style

Believe it or not Galveston was called the “Wall Street of the South” due to the islands flourishing banking industry and retail success! So if you are looking for luxury you will indeed find it. You can’t miss the San Luis Resort as you drive in or the Grand Galvez with it’s incredible landscaping and impreccibly designed rooms. The Tremont House is a boutique experince  located in the historic Strand.  A new favorite boutique hotel that just completed their rennovation and opened is the mesmerizing Hotel Lucine with its Palm Springs Retro vibes. If you are looking for more action right outside of your room, Moody Gardens is perfect for families looking for adventure and fun!

  2. Vacation rentals for a Large Crew

Arriving with multiple families in tow? A vacation rental could be your best option and gives yall a space to spread out away from the masses. Both the East and West sides of Galveston have several home rentals that will accomodate multiple families in one or smaller condo units for immediate families. The biggest difference between the East and West sides of Galveston Island is proximity to nightlife and resturants.

The West side is more private and most homes in that area are beachfront.  However the number of resturatnt optoins are limited. Therefore I typically recommend Pointe West Condos to families vacationing in the West side because they have a great beach club right on the property.

If the East Beach is your vibe then I typically reccommend Beachtown Condos.  But be aware they typically require a full week’s stay for reservations. The plus side is that they are beachfront and near both Pleasure Pier and The Strand. Looking off the beaten path? Try one of these 12 Airbnb’s nestled on Galveston Islands Bay area.

  3. Historic B&B’s for the history

You will clearly see that Galveston’s history is rich with stories, ghost walks and restored architecture that line the Seawall. So many of these historic homes have been renovated to provide modern ammenities with an old world look and feel. Avenue O is a beautiful Bed and Breakfast that caters to short or long term vacationers. While the George Manor will have you jaw on the floor when you arrive.  A personal favorite the beauty of the Mansion on 17th will knock your socks off.  Plus is a great centrally location property.

Finally, if you are headed to Galveston with your cute crew I would encourage you to consider spending a sunset in front of a photographers camera.  Preferably this photographer, ha, the beach beach photographer on the Texas coast. Capture your sandy fun as your family enjoys the stunning Texas Beach Sunsets that only Galveston has to offer.
