For many Houston seniors, October and November are excellent months for senior pictures. Houston’s weather can still be unpredictable, but the extreme heat and humidity of summer typically begin to ease as fall progresses.
Fall also brings shorter days and earlier sunsets, which can make golden-hour photography more convenient for busy high school seniors.
If you’re hoping to schedule senior portraits during the fall, it’s a good idea to book your photographer several weeks or months in advance. Popular fall dates—especially weekend dates and golden-hour sessions—can fill quickly.
While Houston doesn’t have the crisp, cool fall weather you might picture in a movie, fall is still one of the best times of year for senior portraits in Houston, Texas.

Scheduling your senior pictures in the fall can also make your life much easier. I typically recommend that seniors that are involved in Spring sports book senior sessions in the fall before soccer, cheer or basketball get under way.
Your senior year is likely already filled with football games, homecoming, clubs, sports, college applications and more. Getting senior portraits done early means it’s one important thing off the senior to do list.
Plus, you’ll have your images ready if you need them for graduation announcements, yearbook submissions, and graduation parties. Schools including Jon Cooper School, Stafford High School, Seven Lakes and Grand Oaks High School have early yearbook deadlines. While others like Tomball Memorial, The Woodlands High school and Magnolia High School are later in the winter and spring.
4. What if you don’t know where you are going to college yet?
