With two daughters one school year apart the last two years have been a blur. Back to back senior years were not for the faint of heart. But in the past few months all things (second) senior year plus graduation escalated quickly. Before I knew it I was in the thick of two college move ins and two different SEC sorority recruitments. Then two bid days one at the University of Arkansas and one at Texas A&M university all on seven days.

I have given myself the time to cry over both girls leaving for college. But it wasn’t without a few tear filled social media posts.

While I was away from life, rush tok happened. Then my daughter’s sorority broke the internet with their collaboration with lucky charms.  On what was the most epic bid day theme my photographer eyes have ever witnessed.

This genius partnership of shamrock pastel love sent my senior photographer business brain into overdrive.  It also reminded me of a few tips that I share with my high school senior clients considering going through sorority recruitment after graduation.

And so I thought I would smoooosh together bid day eye candy and three simple tips for you for your senior pics. Three things to think about before you take your senior photos.

 Three Simple Tips for Senior Pics & Sorority Recruitment

  1. Tell Your Photographer

    First of all make sure you TELL your senior photographer that you might plan to go through sorority recruitment. Even if you just think you *might* go through sorority recruitment in college tell you photographer.  This will ensure that you take time during your session to get a cute headshot from a professional photographer for your social resume. Listen, even if you decide not to rush in the fall you still have a beautiful professional headshot (hello LinkedIn profile).

  2. You Will Need a Headshot

    Be sure to utilize the time with the professional photographer taking your seniors pictures to ensure you get that headshot. When discussing clothes for senior sessions I always recommend that my seniors bring one dress or top with a modest or classic neckline for their headshot and for their social resume. I usually steer senior girls away from strapless, thin straps and anything low cut. Now you still want to be YOU, I’m not talking business professional here but a top with a classic preppy neckline a pair of jeans or shorts are always a safe and cute combo.

  3. What Is Your Aesthetic

    When you are creating your social resume later in senior year you are going to want to be creative and really show your personality, and the easiest way to do that is with the colors you choose. If you don’t really know your aesthetic, I always encourage my seniors to wear something solid and neutral. However, if you are a pastel girly go for a pastel! If you are bolder with your color choices don’t be afraid to grab a brighter tone.
